Two Fine

The poetry by Machaga Johns covers a wide variety of themes in Two Fine, from the whimsical to the dark, the mundane to the monstrous.

Some works are political, some insightful, and some are downright scary. Anyone, got milk?

Tree

Earth – birth oxygen lungs take the air in. Tree sways in breeze we read on paper. Leaves change twice a year. Branches; limbs ropes to them swing in to swim. Beauty, truly cannot: feel free without tree. Roots tucked deep within dirt. Providing generations of life: nice. Bark tough: maple – sap – oak. White birch: where birds perch. Home: a place where some birds chirp. Acorns: pine cones. Squirrels scurry tree no worry. Tree baring fruit we serve for growth to our youth. Standing for all to see feel free breathe.

Thank you: tree.

Machaga Nathaniel Johns has been writing for fourteen years. A Day in Life: A Collection of Poems is filled with his incisive observations on life. A rapper and poet, he produced this stunning collection to express all the different lives that one inner city mind could ever think to meet. As someone who has overcome health problems, he says, “Each poem is different from first to the last.” And you won’t want to miss one. Machaga Johns is a lifelong resident of St. Paul, Minnesota. “I love to rhyme and put it down on paper to hear it back. What truly inspires me is the ability that I have to freestyle (rapping off the top of my head). I have read my work at various coffee shops and nightclubs throughout the Twin Cities area.
