sherill-s-cannon-award-winning-sbpra-author-children's-books

Former teacher Sherrill S. Cannon has won over 100 awards for her rhyming and poetry books, and is also the author of numerous published and internationally performed plays for elementary school children.

Sherrill has been called “a modern day Dr. Seuss” by GTMA Review. “I love to teach, and this book teaches children how to be kind. I am retired and spend six months of the year with my husband of 60 years, traveling from coast to coast and sharing books along the way. I grew up in The Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., where my father was the manager. I’m the original Eloise!”

The Magic Word Coloring Book

The Magic Word is one that everyone needs to learn. "Elisabeth Keys never said thank you, excuse me or please. She made fun of people, she'd argue and tease. She took what she wanted whenever she could, Elisabeth's manners were not very good." So begins the rhymed story of Elisabeth, who discovers her lack of friends when no one wants to come to her birthday party. Her mother suggests that she learn to be considerate of others and to say "please" as well as "thank you." She should treat others "the way that you know you would like," and should "think more about others and less about you." When Elisabeth goes to school the next day, she remembers her mother's advice and uses the magic word "please." She also tries to become more thoughtful of others. Imagine her pleasure when she returns home to find out that her new friends are all coming to her birthday party. Wouldn't it be wonderful if children could learn at an early age to be polite and thoughtful of others! This fun rhyming coloring book will have your kids saying "please" before you know it!

My Fingerpaint Masterpiece Coloring Book

Have you ever seen a "work of art" worth millions, which looks like something your child just brought home from school? The dual perspective of "Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder" and just a little bit of "The Emperor's New Clothes" is evident in this clever artwork story of a child who paints a fingerpaint print in class and then loses it in the wind on the way home. Illustrated from the point of view of a child, whose identity is left to the imagination of the reader since all of the illustrations are what the child sees, the fingerpaint print is interpreted by official "judges" as well as by bystanders. Should people be influenced by what others see, or use their own self-esteem to make their own judgments? This coloring book version allows children to illustrate their own version of the book, and even to create a "masterpiece" of their own! This is the fourth rhyming children's coloring book by this award-winning author, whose other bestselling books include David's ADHD, My Little Angel, The Golden Rule, Mice & Spiders & Webs...Oh My!, Manner-Man, Gimme-Jimmy, The Magic Word, Peter and the Whimper-Whineys and Santa's Birthday Gift.

A Dime Is a Sign: Poems of Love and Loss (Feelings Into Words)

A psychic medium once said that if you find a random dime, it is a sign that someone that you have loved and lost is thinking of you. Sherrill S. Cannon's second book of poetry contains messages written through the years in poetic form that put feelings into words. As a teacher, many of her poems helped counsel troubled teens and friends. There are three sections in the book: Heads, Spinning, and Tails ... (Love & Loss: Coin Toss?). The variety of lyrical poetry forms include free verse, blank verse, haiku, and sonnets, while some are just playing with words! Hopefully, this is also a book of healing.
A Dime is a Sign Through Time
If you find a dime,
You will know that I'm
Sending thoughts of love
Through the veil of time.
Ten cents with a silver shine,
A sense sent you to help remind
That someone who left you behind
Is always living in your mind.
Sending love and vibes,
Felt as psychic sighs ...
The ones that you miss,
Send you a kiss ...
