In the 3rd century BC, China was divided into many warring states. Civil war was rampant, and eventually the number of states was reduced to seven. The state of Qin on the western border was considered the most barbaric and weakest of all. There a boy of 13 became king and his name was Ying Zheng. By age 38, he succeeded in his war of conquest defeating all the other states to rule China.
