Shield of the Palidine
Princess Elise d’Orleans, niece to King Louis XIII, is a spoiled brat and is generally considered an egotistical royal pain in the, well, derriere! Overbearing, overweight, and overconfident, she simply needs a good spanking.
Pierre Tonnelier, the village journeyman cooper, starts on a strange adventure when he finds an extraordinary necklace in the woods outside Chateau de Saint-Germain en Laye, a magnificent castle outside Paris. He sells the unusual piece of jewelry to the petulant princess to pay his father’s debts. But the necklace is charmed, and it throws him and Elise through a portal between Earth and Amorgos, a place filled by frightful creatures that are quite beyond their imagination.
Elise hates Amorgos, hates the races living there, and hates the fact that everyone believes she is their Redeemer! She is supposedly “the One” who will free them from enslavement of their common enemy. But most of all, Elise hates the fact that the only other human in Amorgos is a stinky peasant who won’t kowtow to her every whim, and instead, provides that much needed spanking.
Shield of the Palidine chronicles the journey of Elise to find in herself the true Redeemer, Pierre’s transformation to a mighty warrior, and their unexpected love.
Magic Thief of Gavalos
Seventeen years later, Amorgos once again calls for Pierre and Elise Tonnelier. Amorgos is bereft of magic and Elise, the Redeemer, finds herself reluctantly leading the races to save their world, just as she finds herself trying to save her marriage.
Teenagers Elam and Illieya Tonnelier and friend, Chace Bagot, do the one thing they have been told to never do: touch the Sword of the Western Sun. Its portal stone sends them to a world worse than Amorgos; it sends them to Olympus. There they face the gods of Greek mythology and begin a quest to destroy Zeus, the most powerful witch who ever lived.
Magic Thief of Gavalos, sequel to Shield of the Palidine, chronicles two incredible journeys: Elise and Pierre on Amorgos, and five years in the lives of Illieya, Elam, and Chace as they battle witches and each other. Both groups must come to terms with themselves and their relationships to save Amorgos, Olympus, and their families.
“Barbara T. Cerny has created a magical world that rivals that of Tolkien’s Middle Earth in Shield of the Palidine and its sequel, ‘Magic Thief of Gavalos.’”

A unique story of two lovers from two very different upbringings, united by their individual struggles, Of Angels and Orphans tells the romantic tale of an overweight, neglected, posh young girl who befriends a poor, courageous orphan and his three friends.
Audra Markham is a ten-year-old girl born into privilege, but only in the sense of wealth. The granddaughter of a Viscount, Audra is the object of ridicule in her spoiled and spiteful family. Alone and unloved, Audra seeks solace in the comfort of food.
In another part of London, thirteen-year-old Nathaniel Abbot lives a wretched life, forced to steal food in order to survive. Living in squalid conditions at the local orphanage, Nathaniel and three of his friends are spared further suffering when Audra “rescues” them from their plight.
Through the chronicles of two lost souls trying to find their place in life, despite all the tensions of poverty, neglect and cruelty, Of Angels and Orphans is a zealous story unlike anything you have ever read before. View the Press Release
