About the Book and the Author

WWII Through the Eyes of Innocents

Take a trip back to the challenging days of World War II, seeing it through the eyes of two young people, Bob and Connie, who met and fell in love just prior to the war.

Gunner and Land Girl: Bob and Connie, Their War Years. 1939-1945 relates how the couple first met when they were 18 and 16, and how the following six years impacted their lives. It also gives an insider view to what the war was really like. Connie joined the Land Army to work on a farm, while Bob went to France with the Royal Artillery. After he was evacuated from Dunkirk, which he described as ‘a very busy day’, Bob spent the rest of the war as a gunner on merchant ships. He saw the world, but faced terrible danger at sea.

This is their story, providing insight into private lives that took place during one of the most important periods in world history.
